Background:

Wisconsin Capital Management, LLC (formerly Thompson Plumb & Associates) was started by three partners in 1984. Two of the three have since parted ways with the firm, but Tom Plumb remains and leads both the firm and its funds, the Plumb Funds.
Wisconsin Capital Management is a growth equity boutique. He says he looks in particular for "those companies that are defining or creating new, disruptive industries." He wants to invest in companies that have recurring revenue streams and that are either driving, enabling, or benefiting from those new, disruptive industries. To balance out stocks' volatility, Plumb mixes in shorter duration or variable rate bonds with those growth equities to power a balanced fund.
Though the firm was once part of a holding company that also had business in financial planning, consulting, and investment advisory, Plumb later bought the asset manager back. It is now wholly owned by a holding company that is in turn owned by Plumb.
