On July 21, 2016, People's Securities (a subsidiary of Bridgeport, Connecticut-based People's United Bank) unveiled a deal to buy Gerstein Fisher. The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2016.
Gregg S. Fisher founded New York City-based Gerstein Fisher in 1993. The quant shop offers financial planning and tax management services, as well as investment management.
Gerstein launched its first mutual fund, a growth equity product, in 2010. An international growth equity product followed two years later, and then a global real estate fund in 2013. All of their mutual funds come in no-load, 12b-1-free, institutional shares only.
Fisher and his team have been using multi-factor, quantitative models since day one. They rely on efficient markets, tilting their portfolios using factors like company size, value filtering, momentum, and profitability or gross margins.
