In 2022, Will McDonough (founder and chairman of a merchant bank, Corestone Capital) teamed up with John Calvert and John Raymond (co-founders of a natural resources-focused private equity firm, the Energy and Minerals Group, aka EMG) to launch Element Funds. (Calvert, McDonough, and Raymond indirectly own and control JRJC Corestone LLC, which is Element ETFs, LLC's parent.)
The Sunshine State-based startup specializes in proprietary, actively managed strategies for investing in natural resources. The Element team launched their first ETF, CHRG, in December 2022, as a series of the RBB Fund Trust. The fund is subadvised by Vident.
