On April 4, 2023, former NFL player Casey Crawford revealed plans to buy Vident. That deal is expected to close by sometime in Q3 2023.
Vident Asset Management started as Vident Financial, index provider to the Vident funds. In 2014, Denise Krisko teamed up with Vince Birley launched their own RIA, Vident Investment Advisory (VIA), as a subadvisor to power other firms' ETFs. Then in 2018, they launched another RIA, Vident Advisory, to take over as investment advisor for the Vident Funds.
The Vident team has also entered the direct indexing business, and they plan to expand their index services and corporate engagement services.
Vident is currently owned by the Vident Investors' Oversight Trust.
