2012 could see the second largest ETF player entering the active ETF market.
"We hope to introduce our first set of active ETFs in 2012,"
Jim Ross, global head of ETFs at
State Street Global Advisors [profile], told
The MFWire.com. "The initial set is probably going to be a suite of five to six active ETFs rolled out over a few months."
Ross was in New York City on Wednesday for SSgA's media briefing at the Michelangelo Hotel.
SSgA is the second biggest ETF player behind BlackRock's iShares. As of end-September, SSgA managed approximately $244 billion of ETF assets worldwide.
