Hartstein is Stepping Away From Hancock Funds

Reported by Neil Anderson, Managing Editor

Keith Hartstein is saying goodbye to John Hancock [profile]. MFWire has learned that Hartstein, president of John Hancock Funds, is retiring in September.

Hancock spokeswoman Beth McGoldrick confirmed Hartstein's impending retirement. MFWire could not immediately reach Hartstein himself for comment.

John Hancock president Jim Boyle is leading a search to find a successor for Hartstein, who took over Hancock's mutual fund business in 2005. He joined Hancock 22 years ago.

McGoldrick gave MFWire a statement on Hartstein's tenure at Hancock:
Hartstein has played a pivotal role in establishing the company’s mutual fund franchise successfully transforming it into one of the fastest growing and diverse mutual funds companies in the U.S. Under his direction, the business achieved record sales, elevated assets under management to record highs, and amassed an impressive list of top performing funds within an industry leading multi-manager investment platform.
