A marketing master will soon be leaving
Legg Mason.
A Legg spokesperson confirmed that current head of U.S. marketing and global strategic marketing
Dave Master will leave the firm at the end of the month.
Master will join
Janus Capital Group where he will serve as the firm's new chief marketing officer, staring in mid-September. Master is currently based in Stamford, Conn., but will be based in Denver when he joins Janus.
Joe Sullivan's Legg will name a successor at a later date.
According to the Legg spokesperson, Master's global strategic marketing responsibilities have been divvied up amongst a team, as of July 21, that reports to
Matthew Schiffman, Legg's head of global marketing. This team consists of the following executives:
Enza Bloise, head of global marketing operations;
London-based Mike Evans, head of international marketing;
Stacy Fontana, head of U.S. channel marketing, event planning and training; (Fontana has since added event management and channel marketing oversight to her role)
CR Shaw, head of U.S. product marketing;
Niccona Teichert, head of global program management.
Legg Mason’s head of global thought leadership, Mike Heneberry, and the head of its advisor partnership program, Kathleen Pritchard, now also oversee content development and report to Schiffman.
The spokesperson said that "changes in technology since Legg Mason assembled the global marketing team in 2011 have made us rethink how to deploy resources."
As of press-time, Janus has yet to respond to MFWire's requests for comment.
