2019's Richest Fundsters Are ...

In 2019, two dozen U.S. billionaire fundsters, and fundster-adjacent billionaires, are among the world's richest people. And a certain familiar fundster scion in Beantown ranks highest in the industry.

On Tuesday the team at Forbes unveiled the 2018 edition of their famous list of the world's billionaires, now 2,153 people long (down from 2,208 on the 2018 list) and 33 years running. Familiar faces on the 2019 list include:

Ned Johnson (Edward Johnson, III), #187 (up from #196), age 88, father of Abby Johnson and former Fidelity CEO, $7.8 billion (down from $7.9 billion);

Charles Johnson, #355 (down from #321), age 86, chairman of Franklin Resources, $5 billion (down from $5.6 billion);

Rupert Johnson, Jr., #472 (down from #422), age 78, vice chairman of Franklin and half-brother of Charles Johnson, $4.2 billion (down from $4.8 billion);

Edward Johnson, IV, #617 (up from #629), age 54, brother of Fidelity's Abby Johnson and son of Ned Johnson, $3.5 billion (down from $3.6 billion);

Elizabeth Johnson, #617 (up from #629), age 55, sister of Fidelity's Abby Johnson and Edward Johnson, IV and daughter of Ned Johnson, $3.5 billion (down from $3.6 billion);

Ken Fisher, #617 (down from #606), age 68, executive chairman of Fisher Investments, $3.5 billion (down from $3.7 billion);

Rodger Riney, #645, age 73, co-founder of Scottrade, $3.4 billion (down from $3.6 billion);

Joe Mansueto, #667 (up from #965), age 62, executive chairman of Morningstar, $3.3 billion (up from $2.5 billion);

Cliff Asness, #715 (up from #791), age 52, co-founder of AQR, $3.1 billion (up from $3 billion);

Mark Walter, #715 (up from #859), age 58, CEO of Guggenheim Partners, $3.1 billion (up from $2.8 billion);

Joe Ricketts, #804, age 77, founder of Ameritrade, $2.8 billion (up from $2.3 billion);

Ron Baron, #1,057 (up from #1,103), age 75, CEO of Baron Capital, $2.2 billion (negligible change);

Jeffrey Gundlach, #1,168 (up from #1,284), age 60, CEO of DoubleLine Capital, $2 billion (up from $1.9 billion);

David Booth, #1,349 (up from #1,477), age 73, executive chairman of DFA, $1.7 billion (up from $1.6 billion);

Mario Gabelli, #1,349 (up from #1,477), age 76, CEO of Gamco, $1.7 billion (up from $1.6 billion);

Bill Gross, #1,511 (down from #1,284), age 74, cofounder of Pimco, $1.5 billion (down from $1.9 billion);

Sue Gross, #1,717, age 69, ex-wife of Bill Gross, $1.3 billion;

Thomas Bailey, #1,818 (up from #1,867), age 82, founder of Janus, $1.2 billion (negligible change);

Thomas James, #1,818, age 76, son of Raymond James founder Robert James, $1.2 billion (negligible change);

John Liew, #2,057 (up from #2,124), age 51, co-founder of AQR, $1 billion (negligible change); and

David Kabiller, #2,057, age 55, co-founder of AQR, $1 billion (negligible change).
At least two familiar faces, Charles Brandes and Alfred West, Jr., dropped off the list this year.
