Last week, Informa's WealthManagement.com team revealed the winners of the 2022 WealthManagement.com Industry Awards. This year's "Wealthies" winners were honored last Thursday at a 500-plus-attendee, black-tie awards gala in the Ziegfeld Ballroom in New York City, after roundtable discussions and networking at the InterContinental Times Square.

The 84 Wealthies-winning companies this year included 14 fund firms across three categories: "asset managers," "disruptors," and "retirement plan support and advisor services." (There were 20 categories in total.) In the asset manager category alone, there were 44 finalists.

Two fund firms led the pack with two awards each. Nationwide won the "alternatives" award for its Risk-Managed Income ETF suite and the "diversity, equity and inclusion" (DEI) award for the Nationwide Retirement Institute Diverse Markets Initiative. Mollie Jensen, global head of marketing for Russell Investments, won the "chief marketing officer of the year" award, and Russell also won the "separate accounts" award for its Russell Investments Personalized Managed Accounts (PMA).

The 12 other fund firm winners included:

-Cohen & Steers won the "real estate (including REITS)" award for its REIT Academy;

-Heather Brilliant, CEO of Diamond Hill, won the asset manager "CEO of the year" award;

-Northern Trust's FlexShares won the "socially responsible investing (SRI)/impact investing" asset manager award for its ESG and climate suite;

-Franklin Templeton won the "DC I-O providers — advisor valued added programs" retirement plan support and advisor services award for its "Voice of the American Worker" program;

-FS Investments (parent of Chiron) won the "corporate social responsibility" asset manager award for the Philadelphia Financial Scholars program;

-GMO won the "industry" disruptors award for its Nebo platform;

-Guggenheim Investments won the "thought leadership advisor education" asset manager award for its "Macro Alert," "Macro Markets Podcast," and "Behavioral Finance Inititiative";

-Humankind Investments won the "ETFs" award for its Humankind US Stock ETF;

-New York Life's IndexIQ won the "new product development" asset manager award for the expansion of its Dual Impact ETF suite;

-Natixis Investment Managers won the "digital marketing campaign of the year" asset manager award for its "Sustainable Future" digital marketing campaign;

-TIAA's Nuveen won the "fixed income" asset manager award for its "Global Fixed Income Impact Report"; and

-VanEck won the "thought leadership product enhancement" asset manager award for "Digital Asset Fund Expansion."

The Wealthies awards are now in their eighth year. The winners were chosen by a panel of independent judges, led by David Armstrong (WealthManagement.com's editor-in-chief). The judges considered both quantitative and qualitative factors in their selection process.

"A record-breaking number of nominations was submitted in 2022, with nearly 1,000 entries received from more than 350 companies," states Bill O'Conor, managing director of WealthManagement.com. (225 companies were recognized as finalists. "This year's winners represent many different types of firms, but they all have one thing in common: They are creating the programs, tools and platforms that financial advisors use to build their businesses, better serve their clients, and improve the financial prospects — and quality of life — for millions of people."
